About us

We sabi
sweat

"Sabi" is Nigerian Pidgin. It means to know, to really know. We know movement. We know community. And we know they work best together.

BIB 050 · THE STORY

It started by accident

Sabi Sweat didn't begin with a business plan or the ambition to build a wellness company. It began with a simple challenge.

We believed there had to be a different way to approach wellness. One that didn't rely on expensive gym memberships, luxury retreats or the latest fitness trend. Too often, looking after yourself feels like something you have to buy. We wanted to change that.

We also recognised something simple about human nature: motivation comes and goes. Most of us know what we should do, but consistency is hard. Sometimes we all need a little incentive to keep showing up. So we created a challenge built around movement, accountability and community, with real rewards for those who stayed committed.

What started with a handful of people quickly became hundreds. Then thousands. Without ever intending to, we had built something much bigger than a step challenge. We had built a community.

One community, every kind of movement

More than movement

Wellness that doesn't check your income first

Today, Sabi Sweat exists to make wellness more accessible, more inclusive and more enjoyable. We believe wellness shouldn't depend on your income, your fitness level or where you live.

Whether you're taking your first walk, training for a marathon or simply looking for people who will encourage you to keep going, there's a place for you here. Through our challenges, events, experiences and app, we help people build healthier habits that actually last.

Because wellness isn't about being perfect. It's about showing up, one step at a time.

What we believe

House rules

01

Joy first

If it's not fun, it won't last. We design every challenge, event and app screen around the feeling of a race day with your favourite people.

02

Everybody's pace counts

Walkers and runners, aunties and toddlers, first-timers and PB-chasers. The start line is wide enough for everyone.

03

Everyone's invited

We're proudly Black-led, and this community is for anyone who wants to move. Whoever you are, wherever you're from, however you arrive: you belong here.

04

Bridge the gap

Our step challenges are free, always. Ticketed events like the Summer Games are priced to cover what they cost, and we work with partners and grant funders to keep wellness affordable and within reach.

05

Two cities, one heartbeat

London and Lagos aren't branches. They're both home. What we learn in one city, we build in the other.

06

Show up, then rest

We celebrate streaks and we protect rest. Life Happens passes in the app, recovery days at events, and a whole retreat devoted to stillness.

BIB 051 · THE FAMILY

Built by the community it serves

Sabi Sweat is run by a small team and a wide family of volunteers, walk leaders, pacers and photographers across London and Lagos. If you've ever carried the speaker, you're part of the story.

BIB 052 · MEET OUR FOUNDER

"I never planned to start Sabi Sweat. I simply wanted to create something that would keep me accountable.

Like so many people, I'd struggled with consistency. I knew movement made me feel better, but I also knew how easy it was to fall out of routine. I realised that accountability and a meaningful incentive could make all the difference.

When I invited others to join me, I expected a few friends. Instead, a community formed. Watching complete strangers encourage one another, celebrate milestones together and genuinely change their lives made me realise this was never just about steps.

It was about belonging. That remains at the heart of Sabi Sweat today."
